Roles

Hello Guys,

I’m AKA and today I have brought you guys a new topic series that is ‘Roles’. This is one of the most important topics in dota 2. As some one of you must know there are 5 roles in dota 2. If some people don’t know its fine, I was also unaware for some moths. In this post we will discuss the summary of each role and in detail in upcoming post.

1. Position 1 or Carry

This the position with the highest responsibility because a carry will decide in late game if it is winnable or not. I know other roles are also same important as this but this is a bit upper than others. A carry is a position in which a player needs to farm in early game and make require items and skill build that will help him dominate in late game. The name carry come as in late game a position 1 player carries the team to its destination it may be anything win or lose depends on player. There are many heroes for carry player but mostly agility heroes are considered as carry heroes.

2. Position 2 or Mid

This is second most important role in which it is 1 vs 1 with enemy hero there is no support to help you. So, we can say the most competitive lane is mid lane. Whoever’s mid laning stage was good he can help his team to get more kills and increase the speed of the game. Speed of the game is something where heroes don’t need to farm a lot because they have snowballed early game which gives enemy team no time to farm and they end up losing. For playing this role a player needs a lot of practice and good skills and game mechanics.

3. Position 3 or Off

This is a position where a player needs to be tanky which means he can absorb damage so that his team can capitalise in a fight.  A good off lane player role is to try steal or create pressure for enemy carry hero or team so that his team can get space to farm and build items. As late game arrives a off lane hero role is to initiate a fight for this team and some time even die so that his team can dominate fight because all the spells will be used on off lane and then your team can engage in fight. So, a position 3 should be ready to initiate a fight for his team.

4. Position 4 or Soft Support

This and position 5 are very interesting and sacrificial roles. Yes, heard correct sacrificial this is because the role of a soft support is to help his carry take farm and even sometime die in order to save his carry. They are also required to front line in order to break smoke ganks. Position 4 make item that gives aura to team. It is his also responsibility to ward and do all the utility stuff for his team. If game goes late then he can make some item for himself to contribute in fight. The reason Position 4 doesn’t require item is because his spells are power full enough to contribute in fight.

5. Position 5 or Hard Support

There are some theories that position 4 and 5 are same but there is a bit difference. As I mentioned some time position 4 can farm but position 5 doesn’t care about farming his only role is to buy utility and ward and make item that helps his team only. Position 5 player do not think for themselves they only do what their team or game demands. Dying a lot so that his carry lives is important for him. In short, a hard support role is to buff his carry and team.
